I hold M.F.A. and M. of Des. from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland. Shortly after completing my studies I moved to Canada. At the beginning of my career, in addition to oil painting, I was involved with illustration work, mainly for children and educational book publishers.
However, another my passion is teaching art. For approximately 20 years, I've been the director and art teacher at a private school of visual arts, located in Mississauga, Ontario. After switching back to full time art activity I continue to have few students in my studio every week.
During summers I work mainly in Northern Ontario. The environment provided by the Canadian Shield with its rocks, lakes, and unique windswept pines became my inspiration in the landscape portion of presented body of work. I am inspired by tranquility periods that are not so common in this area. Images of stand still unique wind bent pines and rock formations that despite their transient static state represent very dynamic and aggressive past influence my work strongly. Also, I like to study and work without rush. I feel very lucky that I have opportunity to experience and explore known surrounding landscape and its mood over and over again. The awareness that I can return to any given place at any time is of great value for my work.
My recent series of acrylics "Tree Dreams" is a slight departure from real world expression toward more magical, quasi fairy-tale mood prompted by the nature.
I paint with oil, acrylic, pastels, and occasionally with watercolours. While working in location I tend to use mostly pastels.
